WHY I CREATED THIS
- As a computer science graduate, the question I get most from my friends and colleagues is "Can you teach me SQL?".
- This is especially true for people who work in fields like business, consulting, and finance. But, it also applies to anyone who handle online databases in their work.
- I created this to help them learn SQL the way i learnt it in university, be it for transitioning into the tech field or for their career advancement.
WHAT DOES IT SOLVE
- Learning SQL yourself without a guide can be daunting and time consuming.
- This guide provides a proven, structured, and level-by-level way of learning SQL.
- Online SQL materials can be too technical or too wordy.
- This guide pairs both written and visual aids to help in understanding.
- Online SQL code can be too simple and easy.
- This guide has exercises that can test and solidify your understanding.
HOW IT WILL HELP YOU
- If you have been wanting to learn SQL, then this guide is for you!
- Learn the fundamental concepts of relational database before diving into SQL codes.
- Learn beginner SQL such as SELECT, PK, FK, INSERT, UPDATE and more.
- Learn advanced SQL such as JOIN, Types of JOIN, and Complex Subqueries.
- With technology becoming more advanced, more companies will transition into storing their data into databases, which will require SQL.
- Keep up with the workforce market requirements and rise up in your career.
- The book Ultralearning mentioned that the gap between skilled and unskilled workers is narrowing. This means if we do not keep up with the latest technologies, we can be easily fall into the unskilled category.
- A survey done by GitHub ranked SQL as the 3rd (49.43%) most commonly used programming language.
- But, as compared to Professional Developers, only 38% of respondents are learning to code in SQL. This means there is still an opportunity for people to rise up and learn SQL.
- The book Ultralearning mentioned that the gap between skilled and unskilled workers is narrowing. This means if we do not keep up with the latest technologies, we can be easily fall into the unskilled category.
SNEAK PEEK
- There are a total of 29 chapters, where some will have their sub-chapters.
- For the SQL materials, the chapter will cover the SQL code format, Example SQL code, decoding the code, and visual representation (if required).
